I have a question related to this frequency as it seems it was embedded into the AN/PRC-111 portable radio, which was an off-shot from the AN/PRC-90 rescue ELT. This set is elaborated only at PRC-90.

Has anyone heard anything on this frequency in AM and MCW? Is the purpose of this radio known? Was it used for training? Any info is welcome.

The link says it's a Navy version used for special missions, appears to be from the Vietnam era, so I'm guessing not relevant today ? For all it's worth 249.800 is a current Giant Killer frequency used in the Norfolk/W386 area, I've also heard of Marine C-130s using it for air-air.
