I'm having a problem with the battery staying charged. I bought a new battery
around six months or so. When I first got it, I didn't use it right away. When I
did, the first charge was when it ran down. I have left it on charge in the radio
at one time for a least a week to see if the charge would hold a little longer. I
would like to know if anyone else has had this problem. Thanks.

After charging the BC250D i get 8 hours or several days on it. I don't use the 250 for a length of time just when i'm traveling short distances in the blazer. When I visit family members several blocks from me is when I continuously run the scanner, as they show interest what our locals are doing. I recently had it in Myrtle Beach everything was analog for the part had longer use time out of it.

try this

1 unplug the battery
2 plug in your ac charger
3 turn on the radio
4 move the charger connector around. if the radio stays on thats good.
if the radio goes off, you could have a bad jack in the radio or the cord on
your charger is bad. if you have a car cord, try the same steps with it as
well. it could be solder joints or it could be the jack as well.
if the radio is used alot, i would change the jack on the radio-its probably worn out

hope this helps

i guess the next question is- how old is the battery? if its over a year old, its time for a new one.

Sometimes batteries will keep acting like they are run down all the way, but they aren't. If the radio is just telling you it's run down all the way, keep turning it off, then back on to see if you can get more juice out of it. Do that as many times as possible until there's absolutely nothing left. Then charge it for the recommended amount of time only and unplug. Then see what you get.
