Hi All

I was searching the 25 -30.55 nfm band 25 khz step and the scanner stopped on 27.2000 mhz. There was a weird signal on it, either data or some kind of digital signal. BCT15 with 29 mhz dipole. Anybody know what that signal is ? It's not constant, it comes and goes.

As this frequency is between CB channels 19 and 20, I'd hazard a guess that it's freebanders fooling around with packet radio or something similar...without hearing it (or seeing a spectrogram of it), it's pure speculation on my part...best regards..Mike

There are "gaps" between some of the CB channels. These are sometimes called "Alpha" channels.

3A 26.995
7A 27.045
11A 27.095
15A 27.145
19A 27.195 What you probably heard.

These are used for data of some low power electronics, such as
Wireless keyboard / mouse
Remote Control cars 27Mhz
Remote gate openers
In-house pagers

These can be used on other freqs around 26-27Mhz. I had a wireless mouse on 26.590 / 26.690.

Due to the extremely short range of these, Id guess it was within 1/4 to 1/2 mile of you.

27.195 used to be allocated (probably still is) to remote control model airplanes and those sort of things. it could be something like that in your neighborhood
