I have a whole bunch of nationwide Military frequencies which came with my Uniden Digital scanner that I bought a year ago. (BCD996T).
I usually never hear a thing on any of them except for some occasional encrypted data. This afternoon 282.6000 came alive and was busy for a very long time with constant loud and clear transmissions. Supposedly this frequency is NORAD (North American Defense?).
There was two separate stations, one calling itself Alpha which at one point said something about r Reno, and the other called itself Bigfoot. Bigfoot must be somewhere near Nellis and it must be high powered because it was extremely loud and clear. I even had to turn the volume down a few notches from where I normally keep it whenever that station transmitted.
For at least an hour or more these two stations traded aircraft stats such as headings and bearings, altitude, air speed, etc. Some of the words that were repeated a lot between all the numbers were "classified assault friend", bullseye, "your track" and "my track."
These were definitely base stations I was hearing and not aircraft as the transmissions were always very stable and clear. What I thought was unusual was the fact that this was a frequency that I had been scanning for almost a year and this was the first time I ever heard anything on it except for some occasional short encryption.
Any of you Military enthusiasts out there know what this is?
