I need to buy a couple of the old school style rubber duck 2M antennas. I already have Diamond RH77s, but I want the 6-7 inch antenna for when I don't need longer range and when I carry my HTs on my belt.

What's everyone using these days?

Edit: I've always like Larsen antennas, but its hard to find someone selling them these days.

Smiley makes good antennas. I just picked up a Diamond SRH701 at GigaParts. It is 2M/440 with extended receive. At 21cm (8.27in) it is much more compact than the 77. Seems to perform well.

When I need to use a short antenna, I have found the Diamond 519 works well enough and better than some others its size. They make it for SMA and BNC.

I just read an eham review that promoted the 701 over the 519 noting that he broke the whip on the 519. I have not had that problem. I agree that the 519 looks weaker, but I would rather damage/break a $25 antenna than the SMA connector on the radio. To each their own.
