3.7 mhz

Every 1/2 minute on 3.700 mhz LSB I'm hearing "Herman---I'm a gonna bloow ya to smithereens" There's a tone before each transmission. It's 8:45 Eastern right now.

Still going strong at 22:00 CST (20041220 04:00 UTC). Must be pretty strong if CO, MI, and SD can all pick it up. Unless of course Kevin is in ND instead of CO, but still, MI and SD is a pretty long haul for 80M. :lol:

Hey if we all used a Yagi and found the direction of best reception we could Triangulate it's location, just a thought.

Strange--it sounds like Yosemite Sam, BUT who's herman?

3.700 mhz lsb is 80 meter ham band and you will have to figure out with certainty if your getting it off the back of the beam or the front. 2 a beam for 80 meters is big and it doesn't come cheap and 3 won't be long before the FCC get's to him or her, whoever is broadcasting which is a no no in amateur radio.

Whereas 3700 KHz is indeed the 80M Ham band, it is in the upper portion of the CW portion so any voice type modulation is improper. In any case it is still coming in here at about 15 over S9 so it has apparently been going for better than 24 hours. I am sure that it has been located by now, if the FCC even knows about it, after all it only takes them about 10 seconds to locate within 1/4 mile or so once they decide to look at a signal. Of course locating it and shutting it down are two different things. :?

That would depend on where it is relative their listening stations, (I don't know if they use these much anymore, since enforcement activity is way down) and current propagation.

10 seconds and 1/4 mile are VERY optimistic!!!!

I would guess a few hours and many (many) square miles.

YOU have NOT seen it done at 3.7 MHz!!!

And It think it would take quite a bit of interagency cooperation (or a very dire need) to get the CIA or NSA or Military to lend the FCC a satelite. (but that is just my opinion).

P.S. I would LOVE to hear what capacity you were in when you SAW the use of satelites to "pinpoint" a transmission

I cannot reveal my exact experience to this group.

If you think that the various gov. intel satellite systems cannot track or locate any signal on earth on ANY frequency.....well that is only showing how little you know.

You may want to consider thinking before you speak next time friend.

Think about what?

Think about the propagation characteristics of HF?
and;
now think of the different ways which it can be located with any accuracy,
and;
now think about the bands used for Satellite communications (and why they are chosen).

Now give me one shred of information that makes your story believable.

Other than that fact that you work for a super secret government agency, and being a scanner enthusiast is just your cover.

Using an Icom-R75, in USB or LSB mode it sounds the same, slightly better in USB, switching to CW mode you can hear a Morse-code ID along with the audio each time. Signal is on the weak side here in St. Louis Missouri, but the audio is clearly distinguishable.
