All I have so far is 3 alarms, roof collapse while firefighters were on it had to hang onto side of walls to be rescued. It was a distributor to nail salons called Nails Depot at 6960 65th Street in Sacramento. Occurred just before 1pm. Apparently someone has video of the firefighters running from the roof collapse and hanging onto the walls, we are attempting to track the video down.

SOUTH SACRAMENTO BUSINESS DESTROYED BY 3-ALARM FIRE

TRAGEDY AVERTED AS TRUCK CREW BARELY ESCAPES CATOSTROPHIC ROOF COLLAPSE

At 12:30 this afternoon, fire fighters responded to reports of a commercial structure fire at 6960 65th Street in South Sacramento. Upon Sac Metro Fire Engine 53's arrival, the crew found thick black smoke and heavy flames coming from the front of an 8,000 square foot building housing a business called Nails Depot. A second alarm was immediately requested as fire fighters from Sac Metro Fire, Sac City Fire and Cosumnes Fire converged to battle the blaze. Engine 53's crew deployed a hose line, and made entry into the building in an attempt to extinguish the fire. When Sac City Fire's Truck 10 arrived they were assigned to ladder the roof and cut a ventilation hole in an effort to release some of the heat and smoke to make the interior conditions more tenable for the fire fighters who were inside. The three person crew of Truck 10, a captain and two fire fighters, laddered the roof and began ventilation operations. They sounded the roof and found it to be very solid. During ventilation operations the captain heard a pop and a creaking sound. Due to his training and experience the captain recognized that the integrity of the roof was rapidly deteriorating and he immediately ordered his crew to run for safety. As the roof was collapsing behind them, the three fire fighters dove onto the top of the parapet wall just as the last remaining support beneath them gave way. Fellow fire fighters from E53 and E57 spotted their comrades and quickly extended ladders, helping them down to safety. The crew from Truck 10 remained on scene and continued in the fire fight. Following the roof collapse, the fire fighting operations shifted to a defensive mode, with all personnel pulled out of the building. Multiple master stream devices, including four elevated ladders, flowed 4,000 to 6,000 gallons of water per minute into the structure. The fire fighting operation grew to three alarms involving 9 engines, 6 truck companies, 6 medics and 10 command staff. All told, 77 personnel battled the fire. It took approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours for the fire to be extinguished. Sac Metro Fire arson investigators are on scene conducting interviews and preparing to sift through the remaining physical evidence. At this point a cause has not been determined and all possibilities, from accidental to arson, are under consideration, .
