I did a 800 mhz search and it stop on a freq and 3 digit pop up. For example 317 will show up when they talk. I do not know what that is.

I'm in Search when the numbers show up on the right hand side of the screen. It will show P25 and the 317 at the same time.

It's the P25 NAC ("Network Access Code"). Can be used on Project25 digital frequencies like CTCSS and DCS are used on analog frequencies.

317 (decimal) = 13D (Hex). Could there have been a typo?

(Unless the scanner shows the NAC in Hex to start with, then I'm out of ideals.)

The scanner does show the NAC in hex. On trunked systems, the site's NAC is usually a subset of the SystemID. In Michigan, on the MPSCS, the System ID is 796 (Hex). NAC values always start with 79, and vary from site to site on the third character (Local towers are 79D,79A, 79B, etc..)

The frequency found may be from a trunked system with a system ID starting with 13?
