Yay or Nay?

Good morning all, while waiting for interested & like minded parties to consider starting a new forum for just low band monitoring or maybe a subforum of the existing tropo, skip & DXing forum, & possibly a wiki too, I've found a ton of information pertaining to low band monitoring such as tutorials, DIY receiver, antenna & other equipment projects, monitoring software & actual stand alone equipment from low cost to prohibitive cost that I didn't think even existed but willing to post & share with like minded lowfers either on the hopefully new forum, subforum, or if not allowed, I'll submit them here or to a wiki if one exist for low band scanning, thanks all for your time, input & consideration.

My impression is that such an intricate setup would benefit from dedicated antennas. I am thinking that perhaps a switched system with a horizontal dipole and an old 11m vertical antenna.

I really enjoy low band skip too. My old 11m (Antron 99) worked magic, and my scantenna and Channel Master 5094 were practically useless on skip unless it was a strong event. Yes, I could hear 1000mi. plus Ft. Hood Range control on the Scantenna, but the whole band would be alive with the 11 m antenna. Same radios used for comparisons. My experiment using 2 fiberglass full- length cb antennas in a low, horizontal configuration has not been satisfactory so far. Obviously KKN50's outfit works like gangbusters. That looks like a logical starting point.

Interesting list. It shows the VHF splinter channels that weren't created until 15 years or so, but also shows radio services that were abandoned 25 years ago such as PP/PS/PF that are all now merged into the PW service, and IB/IW that are all now IG.

Kind of a Frankenlist.

Do you guys realize that you can make your own list in a spreadsheet in about 5 seconds and then copy and EZ-Grab paste it into Freescan?

I've attached a FreeScan file for Low Band. This is better than a simple Excel X step sheet since it has the appropriate steps for each band segment (20 kHz for PS/Business, 10 kHz for Federal, Etc.

Covers 30-50 MHz and is the same as the x36 Service Search file for that range.

It's a zipped file.

I'm trying to paste the data in Win500, but it is not taking the frequencies. Another program that doesn't use the Windows Clipboard??? I can copy from Win500 and paste into Excel, but when I try to copy the same data back to Win500 I get all 25.000 MHz in the frequency fields.
