If the 996P2 does a better job of decoding P25 LSM than the 996XT, I might have as many as 60 of the XT's for sale which have failed us completely in the SF bay area listening to the various P25 trunking systems we have here. The 996XT could not discriminate between the control channel data and the noise floor created by cell sites and other baseband noise in the 700/800 mhz bands....then there is the "decoder chip", receiver selectivity issues, and other things. I could care less about close call, GPS scanning, search functions, etc. Just want a serious working scanner that my news crews can rely on that will scan the database I program into it.
