I don't think you'll hate it. Because of its size the 325P2 gets to tag along with me more than any other scanner.
The best feature of the 325P2 is size. It comes with me more than any other as also indicated here. Took the place of one of my 396xt radios because of phase 2. It's only drawback is very low max volume. Hard to hear in a loud car or certain other places, but you csn use earbuds.

I was just about to buy one, then I realized that it DOES NOT come with programming software. No thanks.

It supports it. Have been using it for over a year. Version 2.18 started support for 996p2 and 325p2.

MMMMMmmmmmm.... OK. I guess so, then. However, I still think that I want to wait and see what Uniden is going to offer in the next 18 months. I think they are holding out on us with NXDN, it will be in the next generation of scanners. In the meantime, I have my TRX-1.

I use Freescan to program my BCT15X. However, Freescan does not support the BCD325P2. It does not appear in the list provided at this web page: FreeSCAN - Sixspot Software
Look on the Downloads page and you will see the 325 mentioned there, even though not on the 'FreeSCAN' product page.

I have used FreeSCAN for my 325P2 since I first got it two years ago. However, while it will program analog & P25 systems, including P25 Phase II trunked systems, FreeSCAN was never updated to handle DMR. For my programming files for areas where there is no DMR of interest, I can use FreeSCAN for the 325, as well as my 396XT's. Hor files that include DMR systems, I'm using ProScan. I also use ProScan to log on my 536HP.

You can use the trial version of ProScan for 30 days to program your new scanner. Then either buy it if you like it or uninstall if you don't.

The writer of the software has a very active thread here on the RR Forums ( ProScan: Official Software Thread ), and takes a strong personal interest in questions from the RR Members. Probably the best relationship between users and the software writer I have ever witnessed, regardless of the software type.

Agree Uniden is holding out and possibly why 436 and 536 are both big deals at Amazon

Got my 325 today! So far, programmed it. Not that crazy about the display, wish the backlight was brighter (OLD EYES), but the ears are very very good. Very sensitive and very selective too.

Grabbed one as well. Now I need to figure out a programming for dummies writeup. This scanner is way fancy for what I am use to.

ProScan

With a subscription to radio reference the scanner programs itself. Mostly,

Looked at both Proscan and Freescan. Opening up both programs made my head spin. lol I tried entering a few frequencies from the free database to see if I could get the hang of it before buying the subscription. Didn't work.
