Just noticed that on Uniden's web site, Uniden | A World Without Wires - BC346XT, the 346XT has:

Continuous Band Coverage* - 25MHz to 1.3GHz Excluding UHF TV and Cellular

My 346XT cannot tune mil air frequencies (245MHz, for example), however.

Is the website wrong or am I doing something wrong when programming my new 346XT.

There is an asterisk that has no footnote, which is probably an oversight. The link to the owner's manual shows this:

I'd say it was copied from another page and not edited. An oversight for sure.

I noticed that also. I knew when I bought mine it didn't have MIL-AIR. I am hoping maybe Uniden will offer that as a firmware upgrade (I would be willing to pay for that). Mike

Updated and still incorrect

I'm sure it was a mistake. It's now been changed but it's still incorrect. The web page indicates that the frequency range doesn't include FM broadcast (88-108), and here I am listening to 93.9 on the scanner. Oops!

Rebadged 246 with more frequencies and needs an extra battery.Still don't understand why they didn't include milair on this one. Probably would have bought one. Oh well, thank goodness for GRE.

Larry, I have to agree. I don't understand either, I mean its more or less a direct competitor with the 164/300 and the 163/400. Don't get me wrong though what the 346 does do, it does it well! And as I said I would have been willing to pay more when I bought it, or as a future firmware upgrade.Maybe 700MHz freq. Could be included? I know that those freq.are supposed to be digital capable, but capable is the key word. And after all the competitors include them.just some thoughts. Mike

700MHz isn't really going to gain you anything Mike, the bandwidth is narrow and setup for digital, but it would be great to have the mil-air band.

DaveIN, thanks for clarifying the bandwidth issue, I didn't know that. What reason do the analog trunktrackers have for even including this band? Thanks Mike

For mobiles with BearTracker Warning System, it allows detection of the input channels for BearTracker Alerts. For other models, the only reason I can think to include them would be for "traffic analysis."

Well, my 163 does have the 700Mhz band, and I am glad. The Georgia State Patrol has a mobile repeater in the upper portion of that band. It is analog and has CTCSS. So, for me, it is a good thing. Something else that I can monitor.

UPMan, thank you for the answer. Is their any chance of either of these items being offered as upgrades?

Larry , thanks for confirming for me that their are 700MHz analog freq. Do you know of others?

I apologize for my short sentences, I had surgery(actually 4 different surgeries) on my wrist and arm yesterday. I am a little out of it. Mike
