I apologize ahead of time if this topic was covered in another thread. Over the last few days in the mid-morning hours I have been monitoring french-language stations in the 35 and 36 MHz. range. These stations appear to use 12.5 kHz channel spacing, and each channel is typically a repeater. These stations use a variety of CTCSS tones. On some of the channels, there is some type of tone signalling used, possibly 5/6 tone signalling? These stations typically disappear before noon E.D.T.

On 12/1/11 I logged:
35.625 MHz. CTCSS 123.0 Hz.
35.6625 MHz. CTCSS 110.9 Hz.
35.7625 MHz. CTCSS 118.8 Hz.
35.7875 MHz. CTCSS 136.5 Hz.
35.9625 MHz. CTCSS 110.9 Hz.
35.9875 MHz. CTCSS 110.9 Hz. & 118.8 Hz.
36.025 MHz. CTCSS 110.9 Hz.
36.0375 MHz. CTCSS 131.8 Hz & 136.5 Hz..
36.1125 MHz. CTCSS 110.9 Hz.
36.1375 MHz. CTCSS 127.3 Hz.

Does anyone know where or who these stations may be?

35 -36 Mhz France

Hello

35 Mhz to 36,2 Mhz are allocated to the French goverment Roads maintenance . (in french directions interdépartementales des routes (DIR)) . Relays are activated with BIIS 1200 signalisation. There are also some motorway maintenance (ASF: autoroute du sud de la France) .

It could be France because we had last weeks strong VHF signals from 29.620 Mhz New York repeater

relays are sending BIIS 1200 signalisation very often without voice activity

best regards

If you are in New York you are way too close for it to be F2 propagation from Quebec.
If the stations you heard aren't in France they might be from one of the Frecnch speaking Carribiean countries.

repair cars company

I know this thread is ancient but I came across it while searching one of the frequencies you list in the OP.

Check out this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmJFJeLxfbc

The receiver is located in Cyprus, and is hearing French traffic on 35.8125 MHz

On major french motoways , there are some authorized companies in charge in repairing cars (that is the reasons it's so expensive !!) . Usally they are using local motoways radio systems (35 MHz, 460X MHz analog MTP1327 or TETRA) .
