37.160 - Boone County?

During the VHF low band Es opening tonight monitored police on 37.160 (156.7) make reference to "Wilson Springs Rd", "Bellfont Rd", "Bolling Hill Rd".

Found 37.160 licensed to Boone County and a Wilson Springs Rd there.

Does this sound correct?

I am in south Texas.

Thanks.

Yes, Wilson Springs Road and Bellefonte Rd are both in Boone County. Not sure on Boling Hill Road. I'm not sure who may be using this, at one time the County Road Department was on low band, but they have a UHF repeater, along with the Sheriff's Office on UHF. The County Road Department may still be using low band some. Last I knew, the Sheriff's Office only had 37.16 on low band active. They use it as a control link to send the audio to their three UHF repeaters scatter throughout the county.

Low band in Ark

I don't think low band is used much anymore here in Arkansas. The State Police used to be on 44 MHz but now use the 800MHz AWIN system. I think 37.240, 37.200, and 37.100 used to be used as point-to-point frequencies but not anymore. That said, once in a while though, especially very early in the morning, I hear my local sheriff's department (Independence County, in NW Arkansas) using 37.100 as a car-to-car frequency. They seem to use it mostly for chit-chat... perhaps they assume nobody monitors that frequency anymore. (wrong!)

OK, 37.16 would be correct, and that was Boone County. As I said, they have 3 UHF repeaters scattered around in the county. The audio is sent via the 37.16 link so they can hear the same comms countywide no matter what repeater they are listening to.

They used 37.16 as it was the old low band frequency for Harrison PD and Boone County continued to use that freq after the PD went to UHF. When they wanted a link freq for the UHF system, it was still available to them.
