380-400 MHz (Trunked) - Can the 396 monitor it?

Someone please let me know if the 396 can trunk in this frequency range.

I don't care about encryption as it is not used here.

I need to know if it will track EDACS and Motorola.

Yes. As long as the system Type is APCO P-25.

Can't say for sure if the 396 will Trunk EDACS in the 380-400 MHz range. I have no system in this range to try it on.

Theoretically, EDACS can be tracked anywhere. It doesn't depend on band plans or tables or frequencies. It just relies on LCN. So my GUESS would be that EDACS is more likely to be able to be tracked than Motorola is in this range.

Well, a Pro-96 will not trunk ANYTHING in this range, EDACS included. I am getting ready to buy an M-RK to track several systems here unless some can tell me without a doubt that the 396 will track these systems.

Motorola would be a deffinete plus in this range, but right now EDACS is my "speed-bump"...

BTW, how is the audio on the 396?

Update!

The BCD396T will track 380 systems that are EDACS, but Motorola systems are a different story.

Base frequencies for Motorola UHF systems are not allowed under 406, so trunking these systems seem to be out of the question.

Guess I had to spend $500.00 plus to figure it out...

It's still an awesome scanner though.

Hopefully, Uniden will come out with some sort of patch/flash/update for these new systems.

Is the system 9600 BPS P25? Systems in the 380-400 MHz Band were supposed to be 9600 and not 3600. If the system is 9600, change the program type to MOT P25. I am unaware of any 3600 Systems in the band.

Now I'm confused.

The system is now gone (ship and on the move), so I'm unable to test it until it returns.

I tried to set up my 396 using "Motorola UHF", but it won't allow anything under 406.0000 MHz.

I selected MOT P25 as you suggested and it let me put the frequencies in, but "Set Band Plan" is shaded out and will not let me put in the base frequency, etc.

I'm not sure what the name of the ship was, but they were speaking English (there are a LOT of Chinese and Spanish ships here using 460 and 800 MHz on their ships).

No need to program Band Plan on 9600 BPS P25 systems. Just the frequencies. 3600 Systems would require the band plan. But you can't program any frequency below 406. MOT P25 is the only option.
