I was messing with the search button this a.m. and heard an Augusta deputy call in a traffic stop on 39.800. I recognized the location as well as the voices as being Augusta County, and found that 39.80 is an apparent link to their channel 3 (460.300).

I can't find any information in the fcc database about 39.80. Does anyone have any information on this?

They might be using the license belong to Rockbridge...looks like the tower is in Augusta county.

I saw that and wondered about it. I'll have to do some more listening and see if it's always patched. I haven't heard anything this evening, but I'm at work and may be out of range.

The pl for Rockbridge Co. SO is 131.8.

Thanks for the information. I didn't think about doing a pl search since it was low band. I'll try that when I have a chance.

On another note, does anyone know when Augusta Co. uses sheriff 1 vs. using sheriff 3?

Most of what I've heard on Sheriff-3 when in the area has been traffic stops. Could it be used as an info channel?

That's pretty much what I've heard it as also. Sometimes I hear a lot of traffic on it, but the last couple of days I haven't. They have a "private" mode on it that I thought was encrypted, but a friend at a radio shop told me he thought it was digital apco-25. No need for a digital scanner here, so I'm not sure.

I heard the 39.80 link yesterday. Did a pl/dpl search and they are using 065 DPL, like their sheriff 1 & 3. Still don't know the purpose of the lo-band link or the license information. I caught a short pursuit while I was listening.
