I currently scanning a P25 system, and occasionaly the audio portion of the signal is either garbled, cuts out, or the scanner stops on a particular ID, and all I hear is a "click" sound thru the speaker. To the best of my knowledge, the ID's I am monitoring do not have encryption, (but there are other ID's on the same system which are encrypted), my signal strength indicator on the display shows all bars (so I know I'm getting a good strong signal), and I have the latest firmware update. Also, WX & Priority are OFF, and don't know about close call, but I have never programmed this option. Is their any programming adjustment for the audio portion?
Thanks

Since you are listening to a digital system that is normal with a Uniden. They don't have the digital decoding totally down yet. Hopefully they will some day.

There are a couple of things that might help.
First of all you need to get a good signal(at least three bars or higher on your signal meter). This is the nature of a digital signal, no fading, you either hear it or you don't. If you are not ,either buy the Radio Shack 800 MHZ rubber duckie antenna or put up an out- side antenna.
Next put the scanner on "HOLD" on one of your busy ID's of your local system. Now hold down the function key and push down on the scroll button twice. At the bottom of your display it will show an error number. While you are hearing a signal from your local ID watch that error number till it drops down to close to zero. When the error number is low write down the three sets of numbers below the error number(i.e. 1.36,1.60, 1.82).Now
hold down the function key and turn the scroll knob until the numbers closely match the numbers you wrote down. This will allow the auto tune to start out close to the level of your local system. Also make sure your system auto tune is set to "Auto".
Another possibility is if your are using an outside antenna with an amplifier this could make the signal too strong. This can make it break up like a local digital TV signal as I have experienced with my digital TV and an amplified outside aerial.
Good Luck
