396 audio stops and shows "LNK"

This seems to be happening on several trunk systems. The audio stops, LNK is displayed and the scanner sits there for a few seconds. Sometimes the audio comes back, other times the scanner starts scanning again. These are all analog systems that I am monitoring and I have never had an issue with other scanners (BC246, BC250 etc).

Is there something I can turn off to stop this?

The BC796D book calls it LNK- Voice Channel Data.

Why not just let it go, and those of us who have a 396 here can help out...

Its only an analog system....I didn't see any options to turn it off, only Auto, Manual & Default. It was on Auto, I just switched to default and I'll see what happens.

BTW, I did search the yahoo group and the archives and didn't see anything that referenced this issue.

Update: Setting P25 to default seems to have fixed it. Thanks to everyone who responded.

yes that problem bugged me for several months switching it off Auto to manual or default seems to work i set it to a level of 8 and never had a problem since. The latest ARC396 allows you to set each bank for the P25 or do it maunally in the unit..

Not everyone belongs to the Yahoo group...or wants to. It may seem duplicate to those that do belong to both but this resource is here for a reason and so people shouldn't really be told to bounce to Yahoo...Just an opinion.

If there is a delay set you will see LINK I have mine set at 1 second uncase they talk again. If you hear voice it will come up P25. LINK is receving a signal and P25 is someone talking

LNK is CAD

I Finally recived my BCD396T...
Thus, I can now school from Experince LOL
Anyhow on that,,,,
LNK means DATA you all know that...
What I have noticed is LNK will pop up right before a voice trasmission.
Therefore It is a CAD ...
Data is sent to a CAD by dispatch
PD officers, or medics, fire, etc
responds to data sent to/in CAD and replies
something like I'll be en route to such and such...

You might wanna check the Auto decode threshold (See page 99 in the BCD396T OM)

It may be set too low. Try setting it to about 7 or 8

Follow the instructions midway on page 99 in the BCD396T OM

The top the page should read Optimizing P25 Performance
