I have everything all programmed in, but there are a few things id like to see what you guys have...

First... do you keep the control channel only on?
second.....do you ignore the status bit
third..... do you ignore the end code
forth.....do you let the p25 auto set its self, default, or manual

Right now i am using no control channel, no status or end code and a manual p25 of 6 all on NFM

I have mine setup with control channel on. I also set my P25 then let it auto adjust from thier. I found the sound quality much better with the P25 setup this way. Also i also found the signal quality better if you set the frequncies to FM and not NFM. Hope this will help you out.

Happy New Years to all.

Ignore the status bit - otherwise, if one talkgroup is patched to another, and you're in scan mode, you won't hear anything, because the actual TG will be whatever the first talkgroup patched is +3. And ATG's (all channels calls) will be 48113, not 48112.

End code I usually leave on. It just means that the squelch noise won't come across IF the repeater happens to stay open. Recently this has been an issue with one particular repeater on Banker's Hall, but it's been sent to the doghouse and a new one put in its place.

I always use control channel only because it makes it easier on me personally when programming. I'd recommend it as well, because if someday an unpublished freq gets into the rotation at a tower site, those NOT running CC only will start missing calls.

I can't comment on sound quality as I'm often not in close enough range to bother listening to police or other digital users with any decent clarity anyway.

If I understand what you're asking here, you're asking "can an encrypted radio and an unencrypted (clear) radio talk on the same talkgroup?". The answer is yes. This most often happens when one person forgets to set himself to coded/secure (encrypted) mode. To both parties, the radio sounds the same either way - the only way the person would notice is if they look at their radio and physically see the switch/knob/etc in the wrong position.
