I use the 396, and when monitoring calgary digital frequencies such as CPS, and CFD it seems that i miss the beginning of almost every transmission which gets really annoying because sometimes i miss something good and then i dont know whats going on. If anyone else has ever had this problem or knows if theres something i can do it terms of the way i set up my systems or if there is a setting i can turn on or ANYTHING i can try.. Please let me know!

thanks!

CFD doesn't have any digital talkgroups that are active.

You will experience this clipping on the 396 because when it starts to receive a signal, it doesn't know if it should be receiving in analog or digital mode. So it receives the first bit in analog, until it realizes it's a digital signal, and then switches over. The signal improves the closer you are to the tower, so make sure you are using the best signal for your area.

Try turning on CTCSS/DCS search for those analog channels and see if that helps.

That's what I was going to suggest - but Jay notes that he's on a trunked system...

I know on the 996, you can set the mode to analog or digital when using software and programming systems. Maybe there is a way to dedicate the talk groups to only analog.
