I'm curious if anyone has played with Long Tone B paging decoding.

Basically, I have one radio frequency that is used by three departments. Each department has their own Quick Call (two tone) sequence, but they all share the same B tone. In the event of a fire or other multi-agency response, they send the B-tone for twice the normal length. Morotola calls it Long Tone B, and the Minitor's (most of them) support this.

I've programmed a Tone Out slot with the same pager tone for both tone A and tone B, and I don't think there's been a long tone since I programmed it that way. But I'm curious.. will this work?

It hasn't gone off for a standard set of station tones, so I guess that part is good.

Will it go off for a Long Tone B? What are the timing requirements? Anyone know?

000.0 in A and any value in B will activate on a short single tone.
Tone value in A and 000.0 in B will activate on a long tone (group page.

Paul,

According to my data, you program only tone A for short tones, and only B for long tones or group pages (opposite what you said).

You're probably right...I'm posting from home and don't have my usual source of info handy. So I looked in the Yahoo group message archive for the answer...and copied my reply from your Sept 11 response to someone on the Yahoo board (deleting the specific frequency).

You're on vacation and posting from HOME?!?

What happened to the Bahama Island trip?

Anyway, as for the 9/11 post, you're absolutely right (as to the source) and I was absolutely wrong in that post.

I'm pretty sure the group page (long tone) is 0 in A and tone in B. In fact, I just checked it on the service monitor and the statement just before this one is correct:

Short tone activation = tone in A and 0 in B
Long tone activation (AKA Group page) = 0 in A and tone in B

Now to correct my error on the list... <blush>
