396 xt

Just sent my BCD 396XT back to Texas as Canada has no repair shop/warrenty.........and scannermaster would not look at it....seems my 5 month scanner needed a new cpu.......what could cause this??? It was replaced, the board not the scanner and it's on it's way back.
Any suggestions to prevent this again??

what was the symptoms? not decoding anying? just dead?
or not decoding digital?

the frequencies would freeze, then would hold, the background light would flash yellow-green with a blank screen, tried new batteries, just batteries, then just power adaptor then it went dead..........nada. Hear stories of it getting hot it did this once but no problem when charging in the beginning. I bought a power surger bar but I thought the power adaptor had 1 on it??
