I've been searching for the answer to this question somewhat unsuccessfully, so excuse me if this is old hash.

Regarding alpha tags on the 396T:

When scanning conventional systems, do you have to choose between displaying the frequency OR the alpha tag?

Same question for trunked systems: either display the talkgroup tag OR the talkgroup ID?

Or can both be displayed at the same time?

Thanks.

You have to choose. I don't like that, I'd like to have the option to choose either one OR alternate the two. I can't see why they wrote the firmware that way. Maybe in a future update...

Agreed, that's not good. I live with choosing between tags or freqs on my ham HTs, because scanning is essentially a bonus feature on a HT.

But to not have that feature on a state of the art scanner? Come on.

You have to 'choose', but there is no reason why you can't include the frequency or TG in the text tag and see both at the same time.

That's an idea. I am just used to my BC780, where I can see the bank tag, the alpha tag or the TG name, and the freq or TG ID all at the same time.
