My 396T's on it's way. I'm entering my local info. into the UASD software. My question: will the pre-programmed data in the software slow down the scanning, and take up needed space. Should I lock or delete the channels I know I'm not going to use? Thanks, Bruce

I myself cleared out alll the preprogrammed databases because I wasn't going to use 95% of them. I replaced with my databases that I monitor. Overall I thought the preprogrammed databases was a good idea.

Other than Nationwide, all of the quick keys for the preprogrammed systems are turned off by default. So, no it won't slow down scanning. But, since memory overhead increases the more memory is used, it will slow down transferring new information into the scanner. You can delete areas that don't apply to your scanning needs to free up memory (or just leave "ERASE" turned on when you write your stuff to the scanner).

Or save the state of the scanner as you get it, then upload with "erase" turned on. That way you'll have the original data if you ever need any of it, but it won't take any space in your scanner.

There's no need for this since the UASD software comes with the complete set of pre-loaded systems in the configuration titled "PreloadBCD396T".
