396T Firmware Update and Memphis System Questions

I updated the firmware on my 396T. Haven't done this for some time. Got through all that and still notice some issues with clarity on the Memphis system. Signal strength is not the issue.

My question: Does the firmware update preclude the necessity of tweaking the system manually? If I set the radio to auto, I get a very high error rate. I thought the firmware revision was supposed to take care of this.

I've noticed a little motorboating every now and then, although it's not as bad as pre-upgrade. I haven't looked at the error rate. I'll see what I can come up with in the next couple of days.

I was in Memphis Fri night and Sat morning with a pro 96 and thought the system sounded good, is it just a 396 issue or a Memphis issue?
