I am scanning the Alachua County Smartzone system after Rebanding. I have all my other digital scanners up and running, but my 396T's arent scanning right.

I have upgraded to 3.02.02 and have put all the new reband control channel's in the 396T as well.

When I try to scan the Alachua County system, the display shows frequency 853.7875. Therefore the scanner does not pick up on any coms whatsoever. That is NOT one of my control channel's, nor do I have 853.7875 programmed in the 396T as a CC. It seems hung on that freq for some reason...

Now here is the weird part. When I do a CC custom search in the 853 range it picks up the system fine, with the P25 audio and all.

I would appreciate if someone could maybe give me a tip on how to fix this minor problem.

Thanks! :)

According to the RR database, 853 is not even part of the database. I show 868.81250 as the control channel. It may be interferance from a nearby tower. According to the database, NEXTEL LICENSE HOLDINGS 1, INC. uses 853.7875 in your area.

I'm sorry, they have rebanded. I submitted the data but they havent changed it yet in the database, 853.8125 is the CC.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I got it figured out and after about 2000 button presses, I am up and running again.

Thanks!
hey Brandon, what did you do to get your 396 up and running for the Gainesville trunking changes?

UPMAN,

When I tested the last firmware with you 396t. The screen got stuck 1-2 times. audio changing channels but screen wouldnt move. had to disc power and battery to reset. Well its still doing this about once a week. Its just annoying because before the 3.xx firmware it never did this. Any Suggestions

The new firmware, then program the system under Custom 800, enter the band plan UPman laid out, then drop the control channels by 15Mhz. Voila.

ok, my firmware is the latest and has been for some time now. Did you have to create a new system vs. being able to set a custom plan under the exisitng system?

I didn't catch from your other thread that the system had recently rebanded (no notes to that effect in the DB). So, follow my advice to the OP:

See the instructions included with the firmware update to create an 800 Custom system with the correct band plan. (BCD396TFirmwareUpdate < UnidenMan4 < TWiki)

ok, what I have learned by trial and error with the GRU/Alachua County TRS.

You cannot use the UASD software to make changes to an existing Alachua County (this probably holds true for any rebanded system) system in the 396 nor can you edit a current system (that has rebanded) already in your 396/996 by way of the scanner's keypad.

You either have to 1.) Create a new custom system for Alachua County by using the scanner's keypad (yes this means entering all talkgroups/frequencies/everything as you did the first time) or 2.) You have to use software that has been updated to allow a custom bandplan. The Uniden UASD software will NOT allow you to update or enter a custom band plan for a rebanded system. I used "FreeSCAN" to recreate my Alachua County systems and am back up and running.

If I am wrong or there is an easier way to do this, please, let me/the readers know.

And finally, the only strange thing I have happening is that my 396 will sometimes hang after a conversation has ended with what can only be described as an open carrier on select talkgroups. If I hit scan, the problem will go away until it finds the urge to hang again after a transmission is over and the scanner should move on to the next transmission. Any ideas as to what I have incorrectly set up?

Jim
