396T PL tone display

396T PL tone frequency detection

hi all,

I have a 396T, and I listen to a couple of police departments that have other PD's on the same frequency. I know that i can program my 396T to only respond to the proper PD by programming in their PL tone, but the tone is not listed here in the R/R database. How do I set up the radio to detect what the PL tone is ??? I know it can be done, as I read about people doing it right here on R/R, but I can't figure this one out. HELP !!!

Tone Search

Prees Menu button on side of scanner, go down to (Srch/close call opt), press enter button and turn on tone search so it will show the tones on the frequencies it finds.

PL search

OK, I just did that, and when it stops on any programmed frequency, it still does not show the PL tone.

you have to change the setting in the channel itself. when it stops on your desired channel press enter, rotate down to Set CTCSS/DCS press enter , then select search. what was described by Saint is the procedure to put the search/close call in search for tone. one other thing, if you have a channel set to search it will NOT decode p25.
