Trying to install v 3.02.02, but I keep getting "Programming Error".
My scanner is connected via the PC interface cable and likewise
connected to the AC adapter as instructed, but I still get this
error message every time I try to update the firmware.

I have also ensured that I have the correct COM port settings and
baud rate settings.

I have no communications problems between my scanner and ARC 396,
so this really puzzles me as to why I'm getting a communication error
with the Uniden update tool.

Any suggestions as to where I'm going wrong??

Are you pressing and holding the L/O and 6 buttons 9 at the same time and plugging in the adapter? The display will be blank and the backlight will be on once you plug the adapter in.

Make sure the file is unzipped to the .scn file and put it somewhere you can access it, such as the Windows desktop.

Problem solved!!

I guess the Uniden software just doesn't like the usb to serial
cable that I'm using on my laptop. Because I've tried everything
and it's the same thing over and over..... "Programming Error"

So what I did was plugged the Uniden serial cable directly in to
the serial port on my desktop and was able to successfully
update the firmware.

My scanner communicates perfectly with ARC396 but
not the Uniden updater software....go figure!

Thanks anyway for the help.
