396XT and 996XT P25 Adjustments

There is a way you can have a couple of P25 adjustments to show up on the Settings part of the scanner. That is to press the hold button while powering on the scanner. When this is done, the screen does a color sequence.

Then you can go to the setting, and you will have the option to change the "P25 Adjust Mode" and "P25 Adjust Level".

Just what happens or what is being changed when you tinker with these two settings?

Well . . . one of those was one I started a while back, but ended up on something else, and didn't give me an answer I was looking for.

I was hoping that someone, perhaps even the UPMAN, could describe what's really happening when the settings change. Kinda more of a technical explanation. Also the other posts didn't mention anything too much about the P25 adjustment mode, other than to say what the default was.
