You haven't said much here. If you're not hearing audio out of your speakers, you're either not connected to the right port (a connection to the soundcard is required - it's not carried on the data ports), or in Volume Control (Windows) that port is muted (many times they are right from the factory). I don't have that software, but I'm willing to bet there are some sort of recording tags that have to be turned on first.

Somehow I figured out how to record some audio. Now I can't get it to record anymore. I'm using Vista. Not sure how I got the recordings to work, but I have a few, but now it's not recording anymore. Also, there is a loud popping noise when recording audio, or trying to.
The popping is a classic sign that you have a ground loop issue (these newer Uniden scanners have headphone jacks that are hot...). These 2 links discuss this issue and its resolution...
