Hello...

The problem:

From today my 396XT has this problem... does not appear LCD on the screen, only the leds.

Anyone with the same problem?
I tried restarting the radio, but the problem continues.
A hardware problem?

The scann work fine, but the LCD don´t appear. All blind.

You should try a reset with HOLD-2-9 keys depresssed while turning on the unit. If that doesn't do it it is possible that the cable ribbon to the unit has come loose. You will have to carefully open the unit to inspect the ribbon/cables. I just had a Uniden fade while I was watching it, but reseating the cables did not fix the problem and it had to be sent in to Uniden. You won't have that option since you are in Venezuela

Hello again.

kilowa22...thanks for your help, but the hard reset not work in this case.

I tried this scann with Freescann software and it work fine.

I bought my 396XT in the U.S.

It´s my second Uniden scanner with same display problem, my 2008 BCT-15 has similar problem with display, and I only can use via RH-96 remote head :-(

I am disappointed with the quality of the uniden scanners, it is incomprehensible that I have purchased 2 scanners (396XT and BCT15) with the same problem in less than 2 years

Where is the quality control?
These are expensive radios that are not disposable toys

Apologies for my english.

Apparently repair is only provided to US residents. Contact Uniden and ask them about warranty repair in Venuzula.

Have you tried adjusting the contrast using FreeScan?

I'm thinking that the display contrast is just turned way down and that setting may not be changed when doing a hard reset.

Worth a try.
