I programmed in the marine band by way of the search with scan feature and it works fine (using a Sqk). My problem is I cannot seem to be able to delete the marine band from slot 15 which is where I programmed it. I understand I can lock it out, BUT there must be a way to wipe it out completely, and I can't figure it out. Anyone know? UPMan, any ideas?

But is there no way to wipe the search range out of whatever sqk I decide to put it in? And if I use no qk then it floats around until the end of the scanning cycle eventually to run it's course then. What I want to do is completely clear it out of the scanning cycle so it no longer exists until I decide if and when to put it back again, not just move it around.

You "wipe it out of the SQK" by assigning it to a different on (or none). If it is unlocked and you don't want it included during scanning you would lock it out (by either using the menu or by FUNC+L/O, L/O when it is searching that range).

So ther is no way to delete it once it's been programmed in there, all I can do is lock it out? I tried programming another system in the same qk slot and then deleteing it, but the service search remained. I'd prefer for it not to be taking up any keys at all, but if it cannot be removed I guess I'll live with it, there's a lot more memory in there.

It is in the scanner from the factory. You cannot delete the service search. Also, at the factory the SQK is assigned to "none." So, to put it back so that it is not in the SQK, you change it back to "none."

I don't want to delete the service search feature, I just assigned it the none position, and unless locked out it will run it's cycle at the end of the other programmed positions. And if I progam another system in the same qk and then delete it service search item still remains. I just would like to be able to undo that particular placement of that service search so that I have a free qk.

If I understand what you are asking, set the QK to none for the search and then lock it out. ????

To just be able to erase the fact that I ever put the service in a sqk would be nice. But by locking it out I've accomplished that for the moment. But it's no big deal, just something that I was having difficulty with resolving. Thanks for your quick reply,UPMan, I wasn't trying to give you a hard time. I'm just still trying to figure the radio out so I feel comfortable with it.

Changing the quick key back to "none" for that search and locking out the search is exactly the same as making it like you had never done it at all. There is nothing to free up, as it is using no user resources.
