Hello,
By way of background I'm reviewing options for installing a discriminator tap on my 396XT. Behind the data connector there are three solder pads mounted to the circuit board labeled "TXD", "RT3" and "RXD". I recall reading somewhere that the scanner only uses 3 of the 4 serial pins (presumably RX, TX and Ground). Does the pad for "RT3" connect to the "unused" pin of the 4-pin data connector? If so, could I solder a jumper between the DISC pad and pad "RT3", and thereby send the baseband audio to the "unused" serial pin?
