396XT USB driver software question

My new Dell computer with Windows 7 doesn't have a serial port. Called Uniden, got a USB cable for my 396XT so I can attach to computer. On the cable it says INSTALL USB DRIVER SOFTWARE BEFORE PLUGGING IN DATA CABLE.
Do I get the software from Uniden? Is this specific to the 396XT so the computer can talk to it using a USB cable instead of the serial cable that came with the scanner? I did a search here and on the Uniden site and didn't come up with anything.
Maybe this is a general label that comes on every new USB cable?

Go to the Uniden section - if you are talking about the USB-1, there's a link right underneath it to the TWiki site where the Prolific web page with the drivers are linked from (anything in blue is a link).
