I have a problem with my 396xt scanner.My scanner says NOTHING TO SCAN.What do i do to get out of it?

You have not programmed any system to scan.
Say you live in San Diego CA. You might want to get FreeSCAN, download the entire public safety trunked system (check off the offline sites) and see what you get. I find and prefer FreeSCAN for downloading and re-tagging alpha tags (and has a better duplicate channel finder), but use bcTool for primary organizing and other work.

Got the problem. Your scanner is junk. I'll give you $50 for it. Or I can trade you mine for yours, and program all the local systems and freqs for your state.
