• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

This thread is for reviews and recommendations for 3rd party chargers & other accessories that work with Unication G2 - G5 pagers.
The magnetic charge cables with micro-USB tips that recess into the radio's charge-port are of course a forum favorite. To that end, I bought a handful to test.

I'm just a regular owner, not affiliated with any of these brands or Unication. But feels like we're overdue for a good summary of 3rd party chargers & other accessories for the Unication G2 - G5 pagers, given how criminally expensive the official desktop charger is and Unication's recent warranty decision not to cover broken micro-USB ports.

and Unication's recent warranty decision not to cover broken micro-USB ports.

I'm a dealer so I contacted Unication to ask them about this change in policy. They have confirmed that this is not true and are continuing to repair pagers with broken USB ports that are still under the warranty period. (info current as the date on this posting)

Otherwise, great post!

Thanks, glad post was helpful!
I don't want to derail this thread so I'll share the below and maybe Unication can just clarify publicly, which might serve everyone the best. My agency had two unrelated dealers tell us USB port no longer covered - for both standard and extended warranties. They said it right after below email went out. At this point I don't know if this is a misunderstanding within Unication they sent to dealers or if legalese changed. FWIW I've read the Consumer Limited Warranty (direct link) and am still confused. Would be nice if they'd publicly clarify, or explicitly mention USB port in warranty docs. Certainly don't want to put words in their mouth. I can confirm for broken usb ports - occuring before the below email went out - we've paid flat-rate on out-of-warranty repair and had in-warranty pagers covered. Next time one breaks, I'm happy to report back if I get charged. And just might use your info to argue we shouldn't be!

Note: below emphasis is mine.

Important Notice: RMA Policy Updates & Reminders

Attention Support Center User,
Please take time to review the information below and share with anyone on your team involved in warranty & RMA process.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: G-Series Repair Program Policy Changes
  • FLAT RATE REPAIR PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Due to limited refurbish replacement inventory and policy changes in Taiwan that restrict the age and condition of equipment they will accept to refurbish, Unication must implement the below changes to the Flat Rate Repair Program’s eligibility requirements. These changes will apply to new tickets created on and after 3/14/2022.

1. NEW ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT- Limited to devices under 5 years old:
The Flat Rate Repair Program is available to OOW (Out of Warranty) devices under 5 years of age (based on the Dealer’s Unication invoice date). Beginning Monday, March 14, 2022, the Unication flat rate repair/replacement program will be limited to device serial numbers that are less than 5 years old. This new policy will be displayed in the ticket system along with instructions to check the age of device prior to opening a new RMA ticket. If a device is received that is over 5 years old with no warranty, it will be returned unrepaired.

2. NO REPAIR/REPLACEMENT- Devices with Physical Damage:
Effective immediately, Unication will no longer offer repair/replacement on physical damage devices with conditions that are not covered under warranty as stated in the Consumer Limited Warranty document. If a product is determined to be unrepairable/uneconomical to repair/replace due to physical damage, a technician will update the support center RMA ticket and the device will be returned unrepaired, in the same condition as received.

What is covered?
Any defect in materials or workmanship.

What is not covered?
Warranty does not cover
defects resulting from accidents, damages while in transit to an authorized warranty service center, alterations, unauthorized repairs/modifications, failure to follow instructions, customer abuse (including broken housing, broken displays, or water damage exceeding the limits of ingress protection), fire, flood, and any natural/man-made calamity.

I have a recommendation for Bluetooth earbuds that won't break the bank. The volume is a little quiet, but as earbuds, I believe they will be ample enough in a noisy environment like a race track.

1. Brand + name: KURDENE + S8 DEEP BASS SOUND 38H
2. Purchase Link: Bluetooth 5.2 Wireless... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085VX9JY7?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
3. Link to YOUR pics clearly showing the item, size, placement, etc. No stock images, please. Upload to imgur.com, imgbb.com, or similar free host.
4. Price you paid: $22.99 plus a 23% off Amazon coupon on checkout (may be a temporary coupon)
5. Notes or anything we should know: Shows up as device "1" when pairing, but paired without issue. Super easy to pair; simply take them out of the case and they are in pairing mode.

The forums are good places to discuss products, but I'm not sure that the forums are good place for maintaining collections of data that changes over time. The Wiki would be better, I think, because it can be revised (and it automatically keeps a revision history).

The existing Unication wiki article could be expanded with articles about compatible accessories.
