4 Alarm Fire- San Marcos, TX

At 1400hrs. this afternoon, in San Marcos, the fire department received a tone out for a fully engulfed commercial structure. The fire occurred at 360 S. LBJ Drive, at the Amkon General Store, which sells feed, fertilizer and small pets. The building is a complete loss, with the SMFD and S. HaysFD assuming only defensive ground and aerial positions. This one story building abutts the Union Pacific southbound line through San Marcos and rail traffic has been stopped. At this time all units are working SMFD Fire Ops (talkgroup 0562).

I wish I had an SMFD feed now...

Fire Units are beginning cleanup. A backhoe has been ordered to complete demolotion of Side B. San Marcos Environmental Health is on scene assessing the situation and the road crews are bringing a suction truck to cleanup the containment area. HazMat is also on scene.
