If you consider propagation on this frequency during this season, not at all strange. And it gets away from the mess that sometimes happens on the 6 Mhz pirate band too. Good choice of frequency

I meant I usually copy them when they are in the 4mhz range
like 4.100 (4.185 etc) never lower but yeah good choice

In general - you can't always count on it - HF pirates on the 4000 khz range stay between that and around 4200 Khz. Keeping an eye on the HF underground message boards is always a good idea if you are chasing pirates. It allows you to see the pattern of usage.
