• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Today, while travelling from Austin to Corpus Christi, heard P-25 digital conventional activity on 408.100 mhz in area of loop 1604 @ I-10 (east side San Antonio). Sounded like security ops of some kind (LP checks e.t.c.). Anyone know what agency this is?

Possibly Lackland AFB. One of their freqs is 408.0875. They were doing some AP training the other day. Kind of funny really, they were taking turns handling the same illegally parked vehicle.

408.100 isn't in use on any of the miliary trunked systems in the area. A quick search shows that this might be a US Postal Service Frequency.

Good Catch!

Fort Sam Houston military system

Thanks Lindsay for the clarification. I assumed it was not a trunked frequency as I was able to follow the conversations on one frequency. Looking at the information for the Fort Sam Houston site, there are only three or four frequencies for the site system, so the associated talkgroups and usage probably is minimal...
