40m pixie advice

I would be most grateful if someone could give me some pointers please..

I've ordered a pixie kit mainly out of interest and wanting to get back in to electronics hobby. The idea is for it only to receive (at least for now), so I'd like to know how to disable it from transmitting.

Would it be possible to leave out one of the transistors, but still have the receiver function? Thanks.

It's a Morse code transceiver. Just don't plug in a key. The only way to get it to transmit is to plug in a key and then close the contacts by pressing down on the key.. If you don't do that, it won't transmit. No need to modify the circuit.
