While parked at 113 & 7th in Manhattan my close call hit on this frequency. After further checking I find it's simulcasting KF2GV (446.925). It has a DPL of 205. Any guess on how this happens?

They're all uniden radios (396x & 996x). I also pick up the net (maritime mobile) on 420.8625 with no tone. The signal was strong. It starter to weaken when I past the Nassau / SUFFOLK border. An odd quirk of my radios I'm guessing. I'll try to change the IFs when I get a chance. If nothing changes, then we have a real mystery on our hands!

The low end of the 420-450 MHz amateur band is commonly used for point-to-point links. It would not be unusual to hear the same transmissions from a repeater in the 440-450 range on one or several frequencies in the low end of the band.

I couldn't find any other armature band frequency caring KF2GEs net in the NYC area and if its a point to point link only then why the strong omnidirectional signal?
