I’m not sure if it’s related, but I heard some more activity this afternoon on 43.04 MHz. At the same time a minor train derailment had just occurred on the Norfolk Southern short line that runs from High Point to Asheboro. Not a lot of traffic in the clear other than a mention of something poly and pet.
I noticed the scene had 2 or 3 hopper cars and tanker car noticeably off the rails.

There is a Heavy construction company called “Hulcher Industrial”
who specializes in train de-railment recovery and track repair. They
have used 43.04 for many years and are still active. Look for their equipment
on site. Usually big dozers and crane type equipment. They have big 6 Ft
stainless steel whips on their equipment....

Thanks to all...
Here's local media coverage of the event. Perhaps the video will give some possible leads.

man this is nuts. this would be the first time it hasn't coincided with a Sage iteration, at least as reported here, which certainly changes things.

poly and pet.....they sure don't give ya much to work with.

all i can think reading "poly" and "pet" is

Polly wants a cracker
I think I should get off her first
I think she wants some water
To put out the blow torch

which isn't terribly helpful

Train Derailment + 43.04 analog = Hulcher. Nothing to do with Robin Sags. There are still many business users on low band, licensed or not.
