Are we going to see anymore firmware updates to address the issues that these scanners are still having? It seems like we have now taken a back seat to the sds100.

Not sure what you mean by taking a back seat to the SDS100.
New firmare came out 2 weeks ago and for the past week Paul has been on vacation.
Try not to be so impatient.

I understand Upman has been on vacation but, there seems as though there has been firmware updates for the sds100 several times since the last firmware update for the 436/536 on 6/12/18. From what I have read it seems as though the sds100 is riddled with various firmware issues that Uniden has just put out a firmware update to attempt address the issues.

The SDS100 is a brand new platform and product that was just released to the general public. Of course there are going to be multiple fixes. It is a completely different product than the x36 series radios. Additionally, the fixes for the SDS-100 are for things that have nothing to do with the x36 radios.

Also, a firmware update WAS released with some fixes on 6/12 for the x36 series radios.

What more are you expecting?

While I value the fixes that are put out to address our concerns, it appears that you expect multiple issues with a "brand new platform" or "product". That shouldn't be the case with a effectively-planned public release of any sort.

But it has in fact been the case with pretty much every complex computer-driven product ever released. Name one tech product still running on firmware 1.0.0 a year after release because the initial release firmware was perfect. Or a piece of software that didn't have any bugs in v1.0.0.

I'm just saying that, in general, we shouldn't expect bug-filled releases in hardware or software. I can understand one or two bugs in a newly released product, especially because you can't catch everything with limited unit/integration testing regardless of how big/capable your test group is. With that said, I am not calling out Uniden. I appreciate their hard work in getting quality products out.

Dodge, Ford, Chevrolet, Motorola, Kenwood, Icom all release new products and they in fact have recalls, firmware updates, bugs, depot or factory service turn ins.

Nothing new. It's part of technology. I've seen a APX 8000xe brand new out of box flop. It happens.

I guess you expect too much way don't you make and build the perfect scanner for every user even when the installing techs set up the systems different. Bill Gates by your standards should still be giving us FREE WINDOWS UPDATES BECAUSE OF BUGS.

Bill Gates started giving us free Windows updates because Apple had been for a couple of years.

Me neither because I usually only upgrade when I buy a new machine so I am paying for an OEM license. I have primarily been Mac everything since 2012 and bought a Windows machine 2 years ago to run my scanner, weather, and amateur radio software since none of it can be ran on Mac. I'm not interested into doing Parallels and Boot Camp.

1 What issues are you currently experiencing? As my 436 seems perfect.

2 I did have an issue with installing 1.23.00 for the 1st time

3 After reverting to 1.22.00 then updating through sentinel back to 1.23.00 seemed to fix my Error

4 Seems like my internet must have had bad packet loss during the download... (Rural broadband it happens alot)..

5 There are only updates for known software problems and new features, (can not fix a issue unless it is reported and can be duplicated)

*** 6 Also note The term firmware friday was during open public beta testing. It does not require a weekly update for any device...

*** 7 90 % of the time the problems that do occur on these 435/536hps are user error in favorite lists or the MICRO SD card failing..

7 Early models had internal battery issues and display issues which Uniden repaired along with the capacitor problem on some older models...

For example... I have a ASUS Sabertooth Motherboard and when it came it had a older firmware on it 3 years ago and i updated it.. There have been several new updates in the last 3 months And now there is a revision 3 just released in the past 2 months.. And these updates were to allow for the use of NEWER CPU Upgrades and Ram capability to 64gb...

Moral of the story Bios/Firmware/Operating Systems/ Google Chrome/Browsers/IOS/ANDrOID are constantly being updated. Even my Samsung smart fridge just had a whole new firmware to correct a intermittent wifi connectivity issue thats been happening over 1 year now....

These updates can come weekly, daily, monthly or in the case of my 996p2 3 years after i purchased it which was the enhancement and ability to receive provoice and DMR.

Paul thanks for the great work. I know in the past I even started to dislike Uniden until i found out 90% was programming errors on my own part. And that I should have paid more attention to what people have said on here...

Just for Poops and Giggles my Whistler trx1 just farted and stopped receiving... A restart of the scanner after 4 days was needed.. And the nxdn is Choppy loud and distorted on the trx1...

Also I noticed my mca-204m multicoupler also needs a break every 3 or 4 days Just for a few minutes...

So now I restart all my scanners 1 at a time at 5am every morning before I leave for work... and let various proscan and other softwares record on the scanners without record capability...

So Bob you update to the new windows OS for free every time a new OS comes out ? I got 10 for free then a OS crash and I had to pay for 10 after getting it for free only months before.

Within a Windows version. But new versions of Windows are normally not free upgrades.

Right. Once you've paid for the OS or registered it with a new computer, bug-related updates and patches are free, and only limited by Microsoft's support lifecycle.

My 436 and 536 seem to work just fine, no problems. I am very happy with them. Siren, on the other hand, well... (sigh) never mind.

Siren seems to be Uniden's red-headed illegitimate stepchild.
