On my BCD-396XT, I have programmed what I call 'wildcard' entries on some of the EDACS groups. In other words, to monitor a number of TG's, I have an entry of 04-02-, which monitors 04-021 through 04-027, in addition to individual entries of TG 04-021, 04-022, 04-023, etc., with their own alpha tags, light alerts, and tone alerts.
This 'wildcard' function works fine on the 436, but unlike the 396XT, the radio does not retrieve the alpha tags from the various individual talkgroups, if they are programed in that system. Instead, it just displays the 'wildcard' alpha tag. The 396T did not retrieve the alpha tags, but the XT does, and I had hoped the 436 would, too.
Can this be fixed in a future firmware update? I hope so.
