Yes, well that (
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/eula_windows/) is what I've formatted the card with AGAIN. I got very familial with this utility with the first 436 we had, along with using external card readers and all the rest.
No, though I'd love to be running this via the MAC, I didn't want to introduce another layer to this hardware / software (Uniden scanner / Sentinal software) problem, so since the beginning its been Win7 and WinXPpro.
So, last time the scanner was connected was about 3 - 4 weeks ago. Like I said, its a scanner for a non-tech / non-scanner person, so once its "working" it won't be getting updated or connected all the time - which is good for me based on the numerous problems so far. So, today we connect it up, and nothing happens right away, which I remember from the first time around, being a bad thing. After a bit the PC reports "to use this device you must first format it, would you like to do that now?" Soooooo here we go....
Format the card in an external card reader. Reconnect to PC. The PC sees the card / drive, but the software (v. 1.02) can't talk to the scanner (to clear all user data). Soooooooooo, find the database files (/mydocs/unden......) and save them out. Re-run the installer for the Sentinel software, its asks "would you like to repair....?", YES. Run that, move the database files back into the proper file path, run the "Clear user data" (scanner), re-upload the database to the scanner, and finally........ run the firmware update on the scanner.
Sooooo..... why does this card on the scanner get unreadable / corrupt in some fassion, 'all by itself' - when it has NOT been connected to a PC? All that has happened since it WAS working, is that the scanner has been used (turned ON / OFF) dozens of times.
Though there are a few features on this scanner I wish my PRS-800 had, I'm actually thankful this is NOT my scanner.
Can't wait for the next firmware update, or the next time my friend wants to update his programming, I'm sure we'll be jumping through these hoops again.
