I know this question may seem better asked in the 'Uniden Tech' Forum. Since only specific systems in the state(of those programmed on my scanner) seem to be affected. I thought I would ask here, first. Keep in mind, I didn't have this problem on my SDS100.

Last night(and today), I heard what sounded like simulcast distortion. Specifically in the counties of Chatham(home), Harnett n' Wake. Did something change in those counties?

Chatham Simulcast is already documented as simulcast so, no change there. There are numerous sites ID'ed in "Harnett" and "Wake" so you'll need to be more specific regarding which sites you've tried
I know they are ID'ed that. I have been using the Chatham Simulcast, to hear Harnett. That was fine. Until last night. For Wake, I have been using the Simulcast tower for Wake on Cary/Wake25.

Are you using an outdoor antenna or a rubber ducky antenna, how many bars are showing on the audio scale. Better the signal you are receiving will make a difference on how good you pick up the system.

So you had a reliable simulcast pick up on the 436HP before? It's expected to have a reliable pick up using the SDS100. You didn't happen to move the 436HP a few inches or upgrade its antenna, did you? Simulcast results can be unpredictable using anything other than an SDS

Until now, it hasn't been a problem. I can hear other programmed systems further away, that. Don't have audio like that.

Whether or not you are able to monitor a simulcast system with a non-SDS scanner is a roll of the dice. It mostly depends on whether or not your scanner is receiving more than one tower location. Given the RF properties of most P25 radio systems, moving the scanner even a few inches, closing metal blinds in a nearby window, or even the location of a nearby vehicle can make all the difference. If you want to receive a simulcast signal with a non-SDS scanner, less received signal (rather than more) can sometimes be helpful.

Hi Chris,

I use my 436 to monitor Wake County simulcast on the first floor of my home in Holly Springs. I've noticed lately that sometimes I don't get any signals or bad audio when using the South Wake repeater on the 436, but my SDS100 does fine.

It could be that it is winter and all of the leaves are gone, or that they may have done some maintenance on a tower which is now causing interference.

Some people have tried using a smaller antenna (paperclip :) ), or adding attenuation.

Let us know if something works for you. For me, my OP25 setup with a dongle and the SDS100 work fine.

I have my SDS100, setup w/ the CC's from the Wake Tower on Cary/Wake25(the same w/ the City of Cary, w/ their tower).
