Anyone playing with a TRBO/DMR decoder? I'm getting some TRBO on 450.100, which doesn't show to have any licenses in the state...

The only activity I get is with a Color code 1, Time Slot 2, Talkgroup 1000, which is the same as NW and SW Integris security channels.

Also, if you decode the audio, the same audio comes over 450.100 as 461.400 (both in TRBO/DMR). perhaps 450.100 is the ProCure center up on memorial? Maybe Canadian Valley (Integris)? Any ideas? Anyone want to DF this one?

Leaving aside what you are asking :D can you describe your setup for decoding? Which radio, etc? From poking around, it appears that OEC (Utilities Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference) will be going to TRDBO and I'd like to keep listening to them (For as long as the laptop battery lasts, of course).

I'm using a BC780XLT (with discriminator tap) for the radio, feeding into a home-built linux (Ubuntu 10.04 LTS) running dsd. I've had good luck through windows also with the dsdforwin and the java DMRdecoder. I'm just using the on-board soundcard (Gigabyte motherboard) for audio in/out.

Found and ID'd Edmond School buses now on TRBO today...464.7125. Voice on Time slot 1, color 0, and talkgroup 500. Interesting how that's the second school district set of buses to be on Time slot 1 and talkgroup 500....almost like the same person is programming them!

Thanks. I, too, have a tapped 780XLT. I think I deleted the Ubuntu partition (Kubuntu, actually) on my laptop, though. I saw that someone had made it all work under Cygwin. Say, you won't be at the meeting Tuesday with your setup will you?? :)

Is it possible that this is some sort of a default when programming ... or is it only school systems where you see it?

I'm on a desktop, so probably won't be bringing that with me. If you have a laptop you'd like to try, bring it along - I'll see if we can get it running!

Default programming is color 1, time slot 1, group 1 - Kind of like how you hear the most traffic on FRS 1...:p

I wouldn't say there is really default programming, but it seems the same people are programming these radios (and charging them crazy prices to do so), but just "cloning" their codeplug and adjusting the frequency. So easy, even a caveman could do it.

Hm... I set up DSD on a netbook, it decodes Provoice just fine - only a little garbling - but while it shows DMR data on 450.1 I get nothing but garbled audio. First time I've done anything other than PV with dsd, so will have to see if there's anything else I need to do...

Edit:
Got a CW ID on 450.100, went twice, heard KPH (not positive on the 'H') and I *think* 10 - there were only two numbers, which seemed odd. Also heard some very distorted analog voice, sounded like spanish. That could be the scanner - a PRO-2052 on a high antenna, perhaps it's overloaded and hearing images. The ID sounded nice and clear though.

No luck decoding the audio though, on either frequency.

So, is this normal on DMR? DSD says it keeps toggling between GFSK and C4FM modulation during any given transmission. The first entry by DSD says it is on one slot (has the brackets) then all the rest are on the other (goes both ways - start SLOT1, switch to 2, or vice versa). And I get a TON of errors.

Does that on both frequencies.

Switched back to PV on OKC and with the outside antenna it sounds just fine, almost no errors shown either. Too bad it won't trunk-track...! :)

When you start dsd, try: "dsd -xr" this makes it expect inverted tdmr.

That works for me. For some reason, all uhf signals are inverted, and VHF are normal using my bc780.

That did it. I had tried it briefly last night, but all I got was lots of "Slot idle" messages. I was about to reply this morning that it was still doing that, but left dsd running while I typed. I heard a voice! Got lucky, after a brief exchange nothing else has been said for some time.

So it appears the system just periodically transmits when there hasn't been any voice traffic. That would explain things a bit - I was trying to figure out why Integris would have *that* much to say, with all that traffic even late at night on a weekend! :)
