There are listings for the Florence Lauderdale EMA but I'll bet it's coming from Montgomery. I've picked up traffic on this frequency from Prattville when doing a band search but never noticed the PL. It sounded like maybe some state building security guards.

I perked up when I saw your post since 453.375 was my county's S.O. main channel, even with the same PL. I kind of doubt you're getting skip from California though. :)

Well would say its DPS (state related) that tend to use the 123 PL tine, county likes 136.5 & state Dept of corrections like 203.5 PL , well some1 will come up with somthing:)

Paul and Jim,

Looking at the FCC information, 453.375 is licensed by the State at 135 South Union Street ATTN: Retirement Systems. My memory doesn't work as good as it once did, so I can't remember which or what building is located at this address. Looks like another item for the database.

Paul,

This is the State we are talking about. Seriously, it could be in-house security or even maintenance people. I looked up the address and this may explain something. Address is where the RSA has its offices. And if I remember correctly, there were security guards in the building, not Capitol Police officers when I was there a couple of years ago. That may have changed since then. At one time the Capitol Police patrolled the Capitol and only certain State office buildings. Everything else depending on security guards of some type for inside and outside patrol. And you know there was a employment lisiting with the State for security guards at time, who knows that lisiting may still be active. Too much dispatching has fired my brain.

puzzling traffic on here leads me to believe it not as said above.. I hear numerous mention of go from Dining hall o the chapel?? doesn't sound like routine security etc.. sound more like what I've herd on the 460MHz dept of corrections ( prisons) here in local area

http://www.uah.edu/admin/HR/r-prog.html to confirm the address in the second paragraph -

...and they have lots of security (PW) radio equipment listed in the FCC database... The base station antenna is right around the corner at 770 Washington Street with 128 watt ERP.

Paul,
After listening to 453.375 for the past few days, I think you're right. I'm not familiar with all the correctional facilities in this area but the traffic sounds almost identical to what I hear on 453.05, which is the Boot Camp located in Autauga County. The signal strength also sound identical. Could this be a previously unknown frequency for the Boot Camp?

Paul,
No, this is not the usual type of security traffic. These are obvious corrections officers escorting what they call "students" from the chow hall to chapel and things like that. Like I said, it sounds identical to the type of traffic for the Boot Camp and I'll bet it's another Boot Camp frequency or some other juvenile corrections facility in the Montgomery area I don't know about.

I just heard traffic where one unit asked an officer to call him at the gate. The Autauga Campus doesn't have a gate. Could this be the DYS facility at Mt. Meigs?

That's the only thing that makes sense to me if it's not the Boot Camp. I wonder why this frequency is not listed as being licensed to the DOC? Maybe the Retirement Board got the license but the DOC appropriated it.

Just thought of another likely possibility.. the Youth facility on airbase Blvd here in Montgomery is a good possibility
