In the database for Tuscaloosa I see 453.41250 listed as police UHF link for remote receive site. Can someone please explain what this frequency is for? I've noticed that I have to be near the PD headquarters to hear any radio traffic on this frequency.

Hi, there. I am new to this site but quite familiar with scanners and the frequencies. This frequency was one I wanted to find out, too. My uncle is a sargeant for the Tuscaloosa Police, and he says that the 453.4125 frequency is somewhat a "backup tower" frequency. You will very rarely hear anything off this frequency. The U of A has a similar one... 460.275, but they use it during football season.
