• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

So I did some stuff for this fella that I used to be friends with, he gave me a Motorola xpr 4550 for use in my truck.
the radio works fine but it boots up with someone else's name, I am looking for a way that I can remove all info that is not
my own, name call sign dmr id. I have reached out to local ham groups with in 100 miles, but honestly nobody uses Motorola
Any ways Long story short this fella has too huge an ego for me to be friends with him anymore and he has the software
and is not willing to allow me access to the software. I am able to get a programming cable with no problems but getting
Software for a 15 year old radio I guess is a lot harder to come by.

You need to make an account with Motorola here, once you do that they will verify your info. Then you need to reach out to them and request the ability to purchase MotoTRBO CPS. Once they approve that you need to pay the 175 for the software. Note this is not immediate this whole process may take a few weeks. Then just simply hook up your radio to your computer, make your changes and write the file, but don't forget to save the original codeplug before you make your changes just in case something goes wrong!

I have no idea where you live, but I’m in Palm Beach, Florida. If you’re close by come on over, & I’ll put your name, & DMR ID in the radio for free. I have several friends who own Moto radios who don’t want to jump through the hoops to get the CPS, & once a year I make the changes to their radios like adding new repeaters, or TG’s. You’d think just sending them $175 would be enough to get the CPS, but no, they want the names, & birthdays of your children, etc plus the $. They make it very difficult, & this is why people get the CPS on E-Bay, or from friends.
